One of the more clever nods to adventure gaming in general is the Red Herring machine. You can actually place found objects in the machine, and it will let you know if it's just there to burden you with extraneous inventory or if the object is really needed. Anything that isn't required is instantly pulverized by the machine! By sierra the way ... can I have a show of hands from all the arachnophobes in sierra our audience? Just a small warningthere's a strong spider theme that runs sierra throughout this game. At one point, there's a glass display case full of tarantulas in which it's necessary to actually touch the case in order to move forward in the game. Do you know how tough it is to operate a game with your eyes closed? |

Other lives puzzles include color matching à la Simon, a concentration-type memory game and recreating several floor plans on a machine. None of the puzzles were too mind-boggling; however, I did run into a problem with the stone wall puzzle in that it wouldn't work with my logic. Taking a peek at the walkthrough, I discovered that my logic and the developer's lives were at odds lives in that it wouldn't have occurred to me to manipulate the stone ball in the manner stated in the walkthrough. Oh well. Like Harvest, Clark's first game, The Arrangement is fairly linear, but you are able to jump to any location once it's opened up. Unlike the first game, there are no mazes or intricate pictures that require reconstruction. |
