Only the vaguest anorexic wisp of a plot exists, so your own imagination (if it works like mine, at least) delights in filling all of the gaps with self-invented thematic spackle.

But that's how it is. Naturally, about nine seconds after your character picks up the Artifact, one of the old teleporters blinks on, and suddenly there's a new express lane straight to Hell.
