the course of time the band became a duo with Roy playing drums, piano and doing slapstick. The duo were called "Alcock & Brown" after the first people to fly the Atlantic, this is where the flying helmet comes from. After sixteen months the duo split up and Brown convention became Roy "Chubby" Brown.Roy is not quite sure why he picked a patchwork convention suited Jack the lad in a flying helmet. "I just wanted to look different from all convention the other comics at the time" is his stock answer. "It hasn't always been a patchwork suit. My first suit was made up from different beer towels. I thought it would be handy to mop up the pints that people threw at me!"Roy still does 80,000 miles a year touring the UK now playing every major venue that will have him! He has also made guest appearances on "The League of Gentleman" whose town Royston Vasey is named in honour of Chubby - it's his real name!Roy
